Routerlogin.net Page Setting : Unable to access routerlogin.net?

routerlogin.net is the web address used for accessing web interface setup of Netgear Routers. It is used to directly enter the login page of Netgear routers. Before accessing through routerlogin.net, Netgear router must be properly configured and setup.

192.168.1.1

It is a default IP address used by NETGEAR Routers as a default gateway or as an access point. IP addresses http://192.168.0.1 or http://192.168.1.1 provide a continuous channel for Netgear router to access the internet for long time duration. Netgear router setup using Netgear genie

You can do Netgear router setup automatically or manually with the NETGEAR genie. Before you start with the setup process using Genie, make sure to get your ISP information and make a wired connection to your Netgear router using Ethernet cable.

Steps for using Netgear genie to set up Netgear router:

  • Switch on your Netgear router by pressing the On/Off button.
  • Ensure that you have connected your computer or wireless device to the router using an Ethernet cable or wirelessly.
    Note: In case you wish to change the Wi-Fi settings of your router, make use of a wired connection to avoid getting disconnected when the new Wi-Fi settings take effect.
  • Open a web internet browser from your computer.
  • The screen which will display depends on whether the router has been accessed before:
  • If you are setting up the internet connection for your router for the very first time, the browser will access http://www.routerlogin.net, and the NETGEAR genie screen gets displayed.
  • In case you are already using the NETGEAR genie, you just have to type http://www.routerlogin.net in the address bar for your browser to display the NETGEAR genie screen.
  • Follow the onscreen instructions that appear on Netgear genie screen which guide you on connecting the router to the Internet.

In case your internet browser is unable to display the web page, do the following:

  • Check that your computer is connected to one of the four LAN Ethernet ports of the router or wirelessly to the router.
  • Ensure the router receives full power, and that the Power LED of the router is lit white.
  • Close and then reopen web browser or even try clearing the browser cache.
  • Browse to Netgear router login web address http://www.routerlogin.net.
  • In case your computer is set to a common static or fixed IP address setting, make sure to change it to obtain an IP address from the router automatically.

To configure a Nighthawk Netgear router as a wireless repeater:

A wired Ethernet connection should be used to set up the repeater unit to avoid conflicts with the wireless connection.

  1. Open a web browser from your device or computer that is connected to the network of Netgear router to be a wireless repeater.

  4. Click on ADVANCED option and select Advanced Setup, and then click on Wireless Repeating.
  5. Select the Enable Wireless Repeating option.
  6. Select the Wireless Repeater and type the IP address of the repeated router In the Repeater IP Address field.
  7. Enter the Mac addresses for the access point, which will be the base station, in the Base Station MAC Address field.
  8. Click on Apply.
  9. Verify the internet connections across the LANs.A computer connected to any wireless or wired LAN segment of the router can be connected to the internet and printers with any other computer or a server which is connected to the other access point.

Netgear Wi-Fi range extenders help you keep you devices connected to Wi-Fi signal with an appropriate connection and with likely expanded coverage around every corner of your house.

To connect the Netgear WiFi Extender using manual setup:

  1. Establish connection between your computer and Netgear WiFi Extender using an Ethernet cable.
  2. Open a web browser from your device or computer to access web interface of the netgear wifi range extender.
  3. Access your Netgear range extender Login page through web address; http://myWiFiext.net.
  4. A prompt screen appears asking you to enter a default username and password credentials, which are admin and password respectively.
  5. Go to Setup after successful login and select Wireless Settings.
  6. Go to Security options and check your Password (Network Key) field under it.
    Make sure to change the password in case it is not same as your router password to match the both.
  7. Click on Apply.
  8. Do not forget to reconnect your Wi-Fi devices to the Netgear Wi-Fi range Extender.

In case you have a Netgear WiFi range extender without an Ethernet port 

First you will have to reset your Netgear WiFi Extender back to factory default settings by pressing and holding the reset or restore button on the side panel for about 7 seconds.

  • Connect to your NETGEAR WiFi range extender using Wifi connection.
  • Open a web browser from your device or computer to access web interface of the netgear wifi range extender.
  • Access your Netgear range extender Login page through web address; http://myWiFiext.net.
  • A prompt screen appears asking you to enter a default username and password credentials, which are admin and password respectively.
  • Follow the Smart setup wizard to setup your internet connection to your Netgear router. Avoid using WPS while reconnecting to the router
  • Do not forget to reconnect your Wi-Fi devices to the Netgear Wi-Fi range Extender.

Installing the Netgear Wi-Fi range extender with WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup)

In case your existing wireless network supports WPS and if you want to setup your extender using the WPS button, follow the steps below to proceed:

  • Press the WPS button on the Extender and hold it for about 5 seconds and you will see that the WPS LED located on the front will blink.
  • Within next two minutes, also press the WPS button on your wireless router, or an access point and wait for few 2 minutes while the extender is getting connected to your existing wireless network.
  • If the connection has been successful, the WPS LED on your Extender will turn solid green and you will see that the 2.4 GHz Link Rate LED lights up.

Note: in case the 2.4 GHz Link Rate LED does not light up, repeat the first two steps or ensure that your router supports WPS.

In case your router supports the 5 GHz band, you need to repeat steps 1 and 2 to connect the Netgear Extender to the 5 GHz band. 5 GHz Link Rate LED will light on your Extender after successful connection.

On completion of the extender setup, you can see that the extended network for each band broadcasts as "network name_2GEXT" and "network name_5GEXT".  Therefore, you can connect to the Netgear extender's network using the same password that you use to connect to your Netgear router's network.

Netgear router Firmware update

Firmware is important to be updated to ensure proper functioning of your Netgear routers. Netgear router Firmware are release regularly and they can be updated using following three methods:

Using Check Button

On login to routerlogin.net, you will see that a new pop-up message appears in case new Netgear Firmware is available. You will have to click on that message to see the available version followed by clicking on the Check button to install the latest version of Netgear Firmware.

To check for available firmware version and updating your router:

  • Open a web browser from your device or computer that is connected to the network of Netgear router.
  • Access your Netgear Router Login page through www.routerlogin.net or through default IP addresses either http://192.168.0.1 or http://192.168.1.1.
  • Netgear router login prompt screen prompts up where you have to enter your default login credentials.
  • Enter the Netgear router Default user name and your password; admin & password respectively which is mentioned on your router.
  • Click on ADVANCED option and then select Administration.
  • Select Firmware/ router Updateand Click on Check, following which, the router will search for new firmware information and it displays a message asking if found and you can click on Yes if you want to download and install it.
  • The router then downloads the firmware and begins the update process.

Note: Make sure to not to interrupt the update process to avoid any risk of corrupting the firmware.
Your router will restart on completion of the update process and it will typically take about three to five minutes.

Manual Method

You can manually download the newest Firmware file from official website. You will just have to enter username and password and then click on Firmware Update button. Save this uploaded file to computer and then unzip it to install Netgear Firmware.

Using NETGEAR Genie

Before using Netgear genie for installing NETGEAR Firmware update, ensure that the latest version of netgear genie is running on desktop or mobile.

  • You will have to launch NETGEAR Genie app and go to the Router Settings section.
  • Log in to your netgear router using the default credentials.
  • Click on the router update button after successful login.
  • Click on the Next button which will then take some time to upgrade the firmware.
  • Firmware upload will start after download is complete.
